It's so good to have a thread where we can share this in common. I so hear you Lusi on behaviour reactions! We rarely (maybe once a year) go to a restaurant as a family as there's so little we can eat. I find the boys can usually have steak and chips and I have a chicken and pumpkin rissoto that I know the ingredients of...few and mild. Well we all had it New Year's Eve and we all reacted in different ways, but definite behavioural reactions from the boys. So, even that's out now! (Maybe they had a different chef that night! LOL )
Anyway, I'm finding that Coles and Safeway are getting so much better at stocking glutenfree (and often low or minus of all the other things we can't have) foods that it's getting a little easier.
Sal, just one comment re Rice Milk. They are ALL SO incredibly different, depending on which brand you get. My boys hate 3 brands and love only the Freedom Foods brand. We were just away and I forgot to take it (YIKES!
We have also discovered that 'Cocoa Bombs' from Safeway or Coles (Health food section) have been fine for our boys and a major answer to prayer! They aren't all that expensive either. We also get 'rice bubbles' (plain puffed rice) from our Gluten free shop. It's pretty good with milk and sugar. (My opinion only - Don't bother with the puffed rice from Safeway/Coles, it tastes horrible!
If any of you remote girls want an excellent Gluten Free shop that do mail order, our new local one is one of the best and cheapest there is. Her aim is to provide quality 'specialist' food at the cheapest possible prices. It's still expensive, but way cheaper than regular health food stores.
